Mary had a little lamb

What an experience. 2 bottle fed orphaned baby lambs arrived to our animal rescue yesterday. One 3 day old white baby and one 3 day old black baby. They were a little scared at first but today well im a mommy all over again. They cry when they see me "maaaa maaaaa" and i get their milk ready and bottle feed them. Then they go for an afternoon nap in their playpen. They play in the yard and go to sleep ( for a full 8 hours) in their playpen again. It is one of the best experiences with animals i have ever had. I have done this with a runt piglet before but its a first with sheep or cattle of any kind and im loving it.
We had a little bit of a nervous start.. the babies were scared of me and this new place , one of them had the runs really bad and wouldnt eat. All problems were fixed within 24 hours with a lil medication , patients and lots of love and time together. The kids are so eager to help out and feed the babies and cuddle them. Im sad that they grow so fast and am looking forward to more baby sheep and goats etc because i LOVE this. I have bottled the pig like i said also kittens, birds ( handfed not really a bottle) puppies , bunnies and more but wow a little lamb really does bond strong with its human and the returned love is just awesome.

101 reasons to NOT camp at half moon lake...

Well maybe not 101 but enough to really not go there.
1. The price - 40 $ a night is very high for what you get.
2. The rules - to ridiculous to mention
3. The no outside firewood sign
4. The 10 a bundle price for firewood
5. The kiddie pool being closed
6.The paddle boats being closed
7. The trout pond being closed
8. The mini golf course that is so well maintained at sometimes the only thing holding you up is astroturf. The whole thing is an obstacle ever tried to putt straight on torn astroturf?
9. The leeches
10. The fresh water shrimp
11. The smell of the well water
12. The smell of the bathrooms
13. The smell of the "beach"
14. The "beach" sand with weeds and random hoses and a rotting smell does whip me into a suntanning mood.
15. The itty bitty campsites where your neigbors are permanant residents and as such build fences right where they want. including the middle of your camp site.
16. the sticky sappy things that fall from the trees and stain your feet clothes trailer and dog.
17. The lack of visible campsite numbers ( good luck finding your site.)
18. The outdated campground map.( dont find your site by counting campsites)
19. 1 word. LAWNMOWER
20. If theres no horses or animals take down the rotting barn
21. The jerky attitude towards teens and younger patrons

26.59'000 to BUY your own little bitty space in this crappy decrepid place.

28. The spiders everywhere.
29. The spiders that fly and land on you all day long.
30. The new no boating rule.
31. The dock is gone
32.My dog has to be tied up but the owners dog can run free to releive itself on your site.

FLASHBACK -Summer of The flying ants

During our weekend out at Half Moon Lake ( watch for a post on 101 reasons NOT to camp there) we noticed a fair number of flying ants. This in turn brought me back to a summer of 2 wheelers and dickie dee men, of pigtails and pulling hair, and of course a summer of Jem and the Mini Pops.
The summer of the flying ants. I remember clearly that summer our yards were taken over by an astonishing amount of flying ants. I remeber my mom and cheryls mom out there with Raid cans and brooms spraying and uh brooming those ants to death. If you know where me and cheryl grew up your know the space between our side walls and fence is only about 4 feet wide along that walk way. So imagine 4 feet plus the 5 ft highish fence and the wall COVERED in flying ants all the way along the side walls. It was so gross the yard was alive. For some reason i do not remember thes edisgusting creatures anywhere but the side of the house.I certainly do not recall our mini pop listening swinging days being interrupted anyways. So yup theres my useless story for you readers.

SHARKWATER

A documentary that kept my kids enthralled from start to finish ( apx 1.5 hrs) . WOW!! i have never seen video like this wow wow wow beautiful. The story was heart wrenching and vivid. We ALL learn t something from this movie. The kids are not scared of sharks anymore. There were parts that almost made the 3 of us cry . Not many movies can make a 4yr old a 6yr old and a mommy gasp at the same time. I highly recommend this ESPECIALLY IN BLU-RAY. Watch it
!!! Such a powerful message.. in the very next generation we will be looked at by them as barbarians for how cruel we are to animals and our environment. They will look upon us as we look upon those who had slaves. Sobering.

IM ADDICTED TO YOU

Well its happened the kids have fallen in love with nintendo. You literally have to pry joes fingers off his ds and his mario kart game. The little brat is actually really good he can beat the pants off of me. Today mikaila got super princess peach now we have to pry her fingers off too. Now normally that much gaming would be just wrong but the improvements in my kids hand eye coordination is amazing so for now play away babies play away. My kids do do other things ya know.. both of them just passed swimming lessons in the shark level.

On a side not i did a fairly large rescue pick up today .. 9 budgies and 2 cockatiels. All seem to be in decent health a great big thanks to my foster homes that got ready with an hours notice. You can see these babies soon on my rescue site www.tylerweb.ca/jennsanimalrescue

Welcome to the superflu

As some of you know last week we battled the worst flu to ever slink through these doors. Countless loads of laundry later both kids are well. Our week went like this. 2 days before easter joe threw up in mikailas bed ( middle of the night of course) So they slept in joes room. Next night while mikkis sheets are washing mikki throws up in joes room. And so goes the week till it was two pukes two beds in one night. Then joe got the runs and it was changing beds 4 times a night 2 pukes 2 uh others. I WAS SO TIRED. So after 7 days of this bug ( yes 7 days of little sleep and lotta laundry) with the aid of pepto and gravol ( i love gravol) we were nastiness free. One may think that at this point i went back to getting my much needed sleep but this is where you would be wrong because guess who has the superflu now. At least im a big girl who can throw up in the toilet even in the middle of the night. Beware guys this flu is a killer ..so painful.

The call of the wild

Today was quite the day around here today. Nothing like excitement to get me to restart the blogging. Today was the number 1 most terrifying moment in my life, when you cannot find your child panic sets in fast. I woke up hearing a few thumps which is normal in our home. The kids sleep in till about 10 but around 830 they usually get up to go to the bathroom and back to bed. For some reason i had a gut feeling to go check on them, knowing i wouldnt sleep till i checked i got up and headed to Mikaila's room. Upon opening my bedroom door i saw Joe standing in the hallway. I asked him where Mikaila was and he said downstairs so down i went to see what was up. No Mikaila .. I ask joe again, "where?" and he says outside. I run outside look around and no kid ,i went back in to check the garage bathrooms etc thinking she was playing a trick. No kid. I say "Joe did you SEE her go out the door?" He says yes mommy she ran away :| :| :| wtf? I ask him when and he replys by saying awhile ago. OMG panick i run upstairs throw some clothes on get Conrad up yelling Mikaila ran away and i cant find her. I hopped in the truck and sped away to search for her. Conrad heads to the park both of us yelling for her. I get to the exit of our subdivision and no kid. This is the point exactly ( as i turned my truck around) that i fell apart. I went from panic to complete melt down. That instant right there was the most afraid i have ever been EVER. A parent missing a child. Sobbing hysterically i drive back to phone the police and miss my turn, so i decide to take the long way back. On the drive back, several blocks from home i spot one little tiny 6yr old wearing one sandal and one cowboy boot with no socks, striped red pj pants and her pink coat...toting her little barbie suitcase on wheels. I pull over still bawling and hop out. Well i forgot to put the truck in park so i have to run after the truck and stop it(whoops) THEN i finally get to go grab my baby. Shes safe!! I cry and yell at her the whole way home. Fear about the situation made us pretty angry so yep she got yelled at by both parents. Then we proceded to talk to her about how dangerous what she did was and we told her how much we love her and talk about running away. Then i took her tv away to make sure she knows how serious this was ( she is devastated without her tv).She wanted to run away to her auntys house becasue there are no rules there. She doesnt like being "bossed around" at home. She doesnt "Want" to clean her room or play with her brother. So she left. Jem and the Holograms taught her how to "runaway" ( 80s girls jem fans, think startlight girls and you will recall the episode). So thats our day What did you do today?
